Students on campus

Career support in Year 1: PHBS UK

During the first year at PHBS UK, students build early career awareness and professional confidence through:

  • 1-to-1 career coaching sessions
  • Alumni talks and networking opportunities
  • Company visits
  • Guidance on career planning and professional development

According to UK visa regulations, student visa holders can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time work during official vacation periods.

Career support in Year 2: PHBS Shenzhen

In the second year, students gain access to a wider range of career development resources in Shenzhen, including:

  • Career workshops, such as CV writing and interview preparation
  • Two major career fairs, typically held in autumn and spring
  • Exclusive internship and job opportunities shared by the International Office and the Career Development Center
  • Employer engagement, including company visits, industrial update and networking events

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Established in 2018, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at PHBS supports students in developing entrepreneurial skills and engaging with the global innovation ecosystem.

The Centre integrates resources from policymakers, industry leaders, and academic institutions to provide research, advisory support, and practical platforms for innovation and entrepreneurship development.

Public lecture series (Innovation Forum)

Featuring leading entrepreneurs, investors, and scholars from around the world, these sessions provide insights into business practices, emerging industry trends, and real-world startup experiences.

PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition

Collaborating with Cambridge University Judge Business School (CJBS), PHBS connects entrepreneurs with leading investors and industry partners, offering opportunities for funding, mentorship, and business development in both UK and China.

International Innovation Hub

The International Innovation Hub provides workspace and support for startups, leveraging Shenzhen’s dynamic technology ecosystem. It focuses on accelerating the commercialization of research outcomes and fostering a globally competitive innovation environment within the Greater Bay Area.

Previous Graduate Outcome

PHBS graduates pursue careers across Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. According to the PHBS 2024 International Graduate Outcome Report, 98% of international graduates secured employment within six months, with the class representing 27 countries.

Global Career Opportunities

Hong Kong SAR (China)

  • Visa: Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS)
  • Duration: 12–24 months without job offer

Taiwan Province (China)

  • Visa: Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals (Article 11)
  • Duration: Initial 6 months, extendable up to 2 years (subject to eligibility and nationality requirements)
  • Sub-category: Individual work permits for graduates for the top 200 universities

United Arab Emirates

  • Visa: UAE Golden Visa
  • Duration: 10 years
  • Sub-category: Outstanding graduates from recognised universities may qualify for long-term residency pathways in the UAE. Current eligibility for student categories generally requires a GPA of 3.8 or above.

Netherlands

  • Visa: Orientation Year Visa (“Zoekjaar”)
  • Duration: 1 year
  • Sub-Category: Graduates from a designated foreign educational institution

Germany

  • Visa: Job Seeker Visa / Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte)
  • Duration: 6–12 months, work limit applies
