More Internationalisation

A delegation of Peking University, led by the Vice President and the Dean of Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS), visited PHBS UK Campus on 30 October 2019. With internationalization as one of its main goals, PHBS took a bold step by opening a new Campus in Oxfordshire in March 2018.  The UK Campus was just one of many steps towards more internationalization of the University.
 
The Dean, Professor Hai Wen, delivered remarks emphasizing this achievement made by Peking University leaders and how with perseverance and cooperation this project with growth. For the near future it was announced collaboration with Cambridge University Judge Business School, allowing PHBS students to study technology and innovation management for a year in Cambridge.
 
  

Internationalization also means being able to attract more international students, as the Vice-President, Professor Tian Gang, pointed out.  Peking University is living an era of internationalization, embracing university partnerships, enrolling international students, academic conferences, transnational scientific researches and professional training. The University will endeavour to become a “community” of cross-cultural exchange, maintaining the tradition and features of Peking University, and its independent value of the University culture.
 
The delegation took a tour at the UK Campus and impressive of good achievements of PHBS. They were impressed by the history, beauty, the dedication and development of the UK Campus.

Being experiencing cross-culture learning in the UK Campus, Chenlong Wu, feels “great gratitude for being given such opportunity of study in the UK”. By traveling he could feel the “appreciation and high consideration that Europe has towards China. Being far away I could appreciate and evaluate all aspects of my life in my hometown. Regarding life in the UK Campus, the student emphasizes how easy it was to blend in and adapt to the new international environment and the local life, such as the accommodation is comfortable and convenient in support of his study and living in Oxford. Chenlong Wu has a “precious” experience of study in the UK Campus and his dream grows stronger for his future.

For other international students who are admitted to the cross-border study programs are spending the first year of their master's degrees in finance or management study at the PHBS UK Campus, and their second year at the PHBS Shenzhen Campus of China.

For Eric Smith, responsible for the Executive Business English Programme, he is proud of China Construction Bank executive students when he looks back, for how they managed to be involved with all the discussions and how they have embraced the hard work. Eric Smith believes that the students are now much familiar with the way business is done in the UK. They will be much stronger and capable for international engagement and new challenges when they go back to China. More internationalization of higher education is one important mission of Peking University.
